About VRC

The Government Communications Centre under the State Security Department of the Republic of Lithuania (GCC) was established in 1993 under the provision of the Law on State Security Department. GCC serves as National Communication Security Authority (NCSA), National Distribution Authority for civil institutions (NDA) and National TEMPEST Authority for civil institutions.

GCC key functions :

  • to provide Communication and Information systems (CIS) for governmental institutions;
  • to protect electronic classified information;
  • to distribute the EU, NATO and national crypto material for civil institutions;
  • to ensure the security of the communications used for transmission of the classified information;
  • to implement the protection policy of the classified information of the State within its competence;
  • to protect the EU, NATO and national classified information handled on CIS in terms of protection against the compromise of information caused by the TEMPEST phenomena.
